Cannock Chase - German Military CemeteryPosted by P J W Miller (Chase Terrace, United Kingdom) on 26 May 2009 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. The German Cemetery near Broadhurst green, on Cannock Chase is a memorial to some 5,000 German war dead, where the servicemen's graves are marked by headstones of Belgian granite, set in plots of heather and tended by gardeners. The cemetery is a tribute to the spirit of co-operation existing between the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgraberfürsorge (German War Graves Commission). Me and my camera(s) will travel both locally and as far as is physically allowable within the constraints of this our local celestial body and provide images from a purely subjective point of view for your evaluation and commentation . Locally based near Lichfield If you have the time I would appreciate constructive comments please and in return for your honesty my comments on your work will also be constructive. A brief message to all the brothers and sisters of AM3 and other photographic blog sites. It is a great feeling to get so many warm and constructive comments from all of you all over the world , it is good to be able to communicate in a friendly manner with no hint of racism, sexism or other ism's. It is good to be able to see what lies in your part of the world and to be able to give constructive comments on your work.

Nicholas from Shah Alam, MalaysiaLovely framing here but could be a case of too many tree trunks :) 26 May 2009 7:07am Hidalgo from Herunen, FinlandWell, I just like those trucks. They complete the photo in very interesting way. Nice composition. 26 May 2009 4:50pm Ken from United StatesPeter, the trees make us look like were are sneaking up on a stolen moment of quietness. Great! 26 May 2009 7:25pm Vinman from Essex, United KingdomI'm a sucker for an unusual viewpoint, especially if it's relevant to the subject. This seems to me to represent a certain guilt in visiting the graves of 'the other side' although in reality they are just men who lost their lives bravely, regardless of the cause they fought for. 26 May 2009 9:46pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomEven though it's a cemetery, I really like to visit there. It's a wonderful thought provoking place. 26 May 2009 10:05pm Cricket-Tammy from Alabama, United StatesLove the angle of this shot. Great information detailing the image. 27 May 2009 5:36am Craig@Random Ramblings from Herts, United KingdomI've heard a lot about this place but never seen it. As I mentioned before one of my work colleages is from Cannock and she's spoke of this place many times but whenever she's taken a picture it's never come out (she uses film) which is a bit curious! Anyway an unusual POV that works really well IMO. 27 May 2009 7:53am shoti from Everywhere in the, Philippineswonderful tones! quite unique angle you've taken this one, makes the viewer want to see more. long time no post Pete! 27 May 2009 11:16am |
